Your ultimate guide to the 4th of July in Greenville
Whether you're a parade-goer, on the hunt for the best firework shows, or just looking for some plans with friends, the Greenville area goes all out for Independence Day. Here are my go-to recommendations for making the most of the 4th in the Upstate.
Kick Off the Weekend Early — July 2nd
Clemson MBA Fireworks at Unity Park — July 2, 6–10 PM. This one is special this year. The Greenville Symphony Orchestra performs live to honor America's 250th birthday, followed by fireworks over Unity Park. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic, or grab food from one of the local food trucks on-site. Pangaea Brewing Co. and The Commons are also there if you want a drink. This is the kind of evening Greenville does really well.
July 3rd: The Party Starts a Day Early
Simpsonville Simply Freedom Fest — July 3, gates open at 5:30 PM at CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park. Free performances by Parmalee and Edwin McCain, plus DJ Sha. It wraps up with a choreographed fireworks show around 9:30 PM. This one always draws a big crowd — and it's free.
Freedom Fest in Laurens — July 3, 5–10 PM in downtown Laurens. Live music from The Brook & The Bluff and other performers, with a fireworks finale at 10 PM. A great option if you want something a little more laid-back and small-town.
Easley Festival at Old Market Square — July 3–4, historic downtown Easley. Two days of live music, food trucks, market vendors, and free carnival rides, with fireworks on the 4th around 9:30 PM.
July 4th: The Main Event
Kids Bike Parade at Trailblazer Park — 10 AM in Travelers Rest. Deck out a bike in red, white, and blue and join the parade — there are prizes for the most patriotic. It's a sweet, small-town tradition that's perfect for families before the day gets busy.
Let Freedom Ring at Furman University — July 4, 7:30–8:30 PM. The Greenville Chorale performs patriotic music live on campus, capped off with a fireworks finale. A more refined way to spend the evening if you're looking for something that's equal parts beautiful and festive.
Greenville Drive Freedom Fest — July 4 at Fluor Field. Baseball, a hot dog eating contest, family activities, and a post-game fireworks show starting around 9:30 PM. There's something about watching fireworks light up over a downtown ballpark that's hard to beat.
Fireworks Lineup at a Glance
Here's the full schedule so you can plan your night:
- Unity Park — July 2, ~9:30 PM (with the Symphony)
- Simpsonville / Heritage Park — July 3, ~9:30 PM
- Laurens — July 3, 10 PM
- Easley — July 4, ~9:30 PM
- Furman University — July 4, ~8:30 PM
- Greenville Drive / Fluor Field — July 4, ~9:30 PM
You could honestly catch fireworks multiple nights in a row without going more than 30 minutes from the city.
A Few Local Tips
- Get to Simpsonville early. Heritage Park fills up fast and parking can be a challenge if you arrive after 7 PM.
- Unity Park on July 2nd is the hidden gem. Fewer crowds than the 4th, stunning setting, and the symphony makes it feel elevated.
- Fluor Field is great for families — the kids can run around between innings and you're right downtown for dinner before the game.
The 4th of July in the Upstate is one of those weekends that reminds you why people love living here. If you've been thinking about making Greenville home — or you're already here and want to talk about what's happening in the market — I'd love to connect.
